Privacy Policy
The Complete Holiday Planner · Updated 26 October 2026
The short version
Inner Wisdom Rising keeps only what your planner needs to work, and your planner is private to you. We never sell your information, never show ads inside the planner, and never use what you write in it for advertising or to train AI.
Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us. You sign in with a one-time link or code instead of a password. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Settings at any time.
This policy covers The Complete Holiday Planner and its sales pages. It follows Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect and why
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | You, at checkout or sign-in | To open your planner, send sign-in links and receipts, and answer you |
| Name, country and postal code | You, at Stripe checkout | To process your payment |
| Purchase record (what you bought, when, the amount) | Stripe | To give you access and keep the business records tax law requires |
| Everything you add to your planner (people, gift ideas, budgets, gatherings, menus, recipes, photos, notes) | You | So your planner works. Only you can see it |
| Sign-in details (one-time codes and links) | Created by the planner | To sign you in safely. Stored only in scrambled form and expire after 30 minutes |
| Basic technical information (IP address, browser type, time of visit) | Your browser, when you use the planner | To keep the service running, block abuse and fix problems. Kept for a few days |
We don't collect your card number, date of birth, government ID or anything about your health. Please don't add sensitive information like passwords or card numbers to your planner notes.
Information about your family and guests
Your planner will hold details about other people, like names, gift ideas, sizes and who's coming to dinner. That information stays in your private planner and is used only to make your planner work. We never contact the people on your lists.
Invitations. If you choose to invite guests to a gathering, the planner creates a private link for each one and, if you ask it to, emails it to the address you enter. Guests can reply through that link, and their reply goes to your planner. You can switch off any invitation link at any time.
Calendar subscription. If you turn on the calendar feed, the planner makes a private web address your calendar app can read. Anyone who has that address can see the events in it, so keep it to yourself. You can change or turn off the address in the planner at any time.
Recipes from the web. When you paste a recipe's web address, our server fetches that page for you. The recipe site sees a request from our server, not from you.
Please only add information about others that you'd be comfortable keeping in a personal notebook.
Who helps us run the planner
We use a small number of trusted companies. Each one handles only what it needs to do its job, is bound by its own privacy and security commitments, and may not use your information for its own purposes.
| Company | What it does | What it handles | Where and how it's stored |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Runs the planner and its database | Your planner content, email address, purchase record | Eastern North America (United States). Encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS) |
| Stripe | Takes payments and sends receipts | Your card details, name, email, country and postal code | Certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the highest payment security standard. Card numbers encrypted with AES-256 |
| Resend | Sends sign-in emails | Your email address and the sign-in email | United States. Encrypted at rest and in transit. Email logs deleted after 30 days |
| Squarespace | Hosts the Inner Wisdom Rising website and sales pages | What you enter on the website, such as a newsletter sign-up | Encrypted connection (SSL) for all visitors |
Information stored outside Canada. Our service providers store and process information in the United States. While it's there, it is protected by our agreements with them, but it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in that country under its laws.
How we protect your information
- Every connection is encrypted. The planner only works over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
- No passwords to steal. You sign in with a one-time link or six-digit code that expires after 30 minutes. We store these only in scrambled (hashed) form, so even we can't read them.
- Your planner is yours alone. Each planner is kept separate, and we test that one customer can't see, change or delete another's information.
- Your card never touches our systems. Payments happen entirely on Stripe's secure checkout.
- Your sign-in is protected. The cookie that keeps you signed in is signed so it can't be forged, and web pages can't read it.
- Repeated guessing is blocked. Sign-in attempts are limited to stop anyone trying codes over and over.
- Your email stays out of web addresses. We keep it out of page links so it doesn't end up in browser history or server logs.
- Access is limited. Only Inner Wisdom Rising can reach the systems behind the planner, using limited-permission keys and protected accounts.
No system is perfectly secure, but we review these safeguards regularly and fix problems quickly.
Cookies, the website and ads
Inside the planner we use only the cookies it needs to work: one keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one remembers your email for 30 minutes while you finish signing in. Your colour choice is saved in your own browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies inside the planner.
On the Inner Wisdom Rising website, Squarespace uses cookies to run the site and count visits. If we run ads on Pinterest or Meta (Facebook and Instagram), their tags on our sales pages help us see whether an ad led to a visit or purchase. You can decline these in the website's cookie banner, and adjust ad settings in your Pinterest and Meta accounts. These tags are never placed inside the planner.
How long we keep things, and your choices
Your planner is kept for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account in Settings, your planner and everything in it is removed from the live system straight away. Backup copies, kept only to recover from technical failures, are cleared within 30 days.
Purchase records (your email, what you bought, when and the amount) are kept for six years after the end of the tax year, because Canadian tax law requires it. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own policy.
Your rights. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also withdraw your consent, though some information is needed for the planner to work. Email melissa@innerwisdomrising.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If something goes wrong, and other details
Security incidents. If information we hold is ever accessed without permission and it could cause you real harm, we'll tell you as soon as we can and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
Children. The planner is for adults. Parents often add their children's names, ages and gift ideas, and that information is treated with the same care as everything else in your planner.
Changes. If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we'll update the date at the top and email you before the change takes effect.
